Hillsboro Village
The 1920s village with a dragon
The story of Hillsboro Village
Hillsboro Village has been the corner store district for Vanderbilt and Belmont since the 1920s, anchored by the Belcourt Theatre — a 1925 silent-movie house that briefly hosted the Grand Ole Opry and still runs films nightly. The village keeps a scale Nashville has mostly lost: two walkable blocks of bakeries, bookshops and the Pancake Pantry line. Its mascot is painted, not carved — the teal dragon that has slinked across a storefront wall for decades, repainted by each generation.
